Chums over at Stuff UK have discovered something a bit unnerving. Samsung’s lovely looking Galaxy S4 Active (arrival time in South Africa unconfirmed), which I thought might be the ultimate African handset a while back, may not be quite as waterproof as it’s made out to be. Reviewer Sophie Charara took hers for a quick dip and when she resurfaced, all wasn’t – well – swimming.
As I pulled the Active out and had a look at the footage of bikini tops and hairy man bellies, the handset got very hot and well… croaked it.
The site does add the caveat that other tests carried out with the S4 Active have seen it stay successfully dry inside – but also that water damage is not covered by the warranty. Oops.
