Google Hangouts glitch sends messages to the wrong people

According to ZDNet, and a few htxt.africa readers, Google is experiencing issues with its Google Hangouts (or Google Talk) service. It’s no small glitch, either: messages you send can end up with the wrong person.

htxt.africa reader, Simon, says that he found out when a birthday surprise was ruined, as his messages were routed to the person who the surprise was for.

The glitch is random, and there’s no pattern to determine who ends up with the message you send. It’s also possible, according to Twitter reports, that messages can end up with multiple recipients.

While we haven’t experienced any problems, yet, Google has acknowledged the issue and says it is working on it. To track progress, users can check the status of the service on Google’s Dashboard.
