Flawed BBM for PC coming

Blackberry just can’t catch a break. The company which is now being sold off and privatised by one of its major shareholders Fairfax has been struggling to release the promised BBM for Android and iOS apps and now they’ll have another platform to support, BBM for Windows PC. More platforms indeed does sound an enticing proposition for the continued existence of BBM but one must temper the expectations of a great experience with the fact that the app will behave much like the Blackberry Playbook in that it will require a handset tethered to the PC to be able to function.

There is no sensible reason why a PC that is capable of a 2048bit encrypted SSL connection should not be able to send messages securely to a BBM server and the death of the Playbook should tell you exactly how users feel about needing to tether to a phone to be able to use a device.
