iOS 7 lock-screen bug gets patched

Shortly after releasing iOS 7, last week, a bug was discovered that made it possible to bypass the lock screen on iPhones and iPads. The vulnerability left the devices open to be used for tweeting, sending messages, and making phone calls – even with Apple’s fancy new fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 5S.

Thankfully – and in record time, for a company that’s usually on its own time schedule – it has now issued a patch. The small update, iOS 7.0.2, weighs in at a meagre 14MB or so, and is available right now for all devices running Apple’s shiny new OS. If you’ve not been prompted to download it, you can do so manually on your iPhone or iPad by going to Settings, General, and then Software Update.
