Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch now available in South Africa

[UPDATE: We’ve reviewed the Galaxy Gear, check out what we thought of the device.]

The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch went on sale yesterday from Vodacom at the relaunch of its flagship Vodaworld store.

We’ve done quite a bit of coverage around the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 phablet in the last few weeks as well as having looked at the Galaxy Gear companion smartwatch. Now we finally have an indication of the price that the 2 will be sold at as a bundle. A Vodacom spokesperson has confirmed a bundle that will be available on “The Smart M package at R679 per month (that) includes the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE and Samsung Galaxy Gear. These devices are now available at stores”

The Smart M package is normally R299/month without a device and offers 120 minutes, 300 SMS and 300MB of data. This means you’ll essentially be paying R9 120 for both which is a basically getting the Galaxy Gear for free when you take into account the R9 000 cost of the Note 3 LTE.

Are you in the market for a new Note 3 and Galaxy Gear, is this bundle enough to convince you to take the dive? Let us know in the comments below.
