Who’s afraid of Bigby Wolf?

If you’re one of the millions of gamers that enjoyed the excellent The Walking Dead game that came out in 2012, you’ll be pleased to know that the studio behind it has made a new choice-and-consequences game called The Wolf Among Us. The first episode of this new five-part adventure, “Faith”, releases today, Friday the 11th of October at 7pm SA time.

The Wolf Among us is a violent, gritty and mature thriller based on the Fables series of comic books, where characters from folklore have crossed into our reality and are now living in a hidden modern-day town somewhere in New York City. Players take the role of the town’s sheriff, Bigby Wolf (one guess which fairytale character he once was), and it’s up to him to investigate a brutal, bloody murder that is just the start of many awful events that will soon unfold.

This time around, it’s not just the choices that you make as Bigby, but the timing of those choices that will have major consequences for the story down the line.

It will be available initially on PC/Mac and Xbox 360, with a PlayStation 3 release coming shortly afterwards. Buying it on PC for $25 pays for all five episodes, but the Xbox version is split into individual episodes that cost $4.99 each. Once you’ve bought the first episode on Xbox, you’re eligible for a “Season Pass” which costs $14.99 and pays for the remaining four episodes, saving you $5 in the process. If you want to save cash as a PC gamer, you can buy it for $22.49 on Steam before it becomes available tonight at 7pm.

As cool as all this sounds, I can’t help but wish that TellTale had been working to bring us The Walking Dead Season 2 today instead. Are you intrigued? Going to pick this up tonight off Steam? If you do, please feel free to share your impressions/thoughts in the comments below.
