Way back in May, a small team of filmmakers met in downtown Johannesburg to attempt making the world’s fastest film.
Their goal? To create a movie – from writing the script to screening it in a theatre – in record time. Luckily, the Guinness Book of World Records has agreed that the their effort – a film named Shotgun Garfunkel – has made the grade, with a time of 10 days, 10 hours, and 30 minutes.
Shotgun Garfunkel follows a group of thirty-something friends who go out for a night, and try to relive their youth.
The team, consisting of three production companies, proudly declared their Guinness stardom on Twitter, today.
We are officially Guinness World record holders!!! #fastestfilmsa #shotgungarfunkel SOUTH AFRICA HAS THE FASTEST FILM EVER MADE!!

The film will, with luck, be made available for release in February next year – but a trailer is available, right now.
