My Pocket Office now free for Asha owners

After Nokia confirmed last week that their Windows Phone-powered handsets were getting Instagram, you’d think the company would rest on its laurels for a bit before putting out the next bit of good news.

Not so. This week sees yet another encouraging announcement from the Finnish handset-maker, by way of new software for its touchscreen Asha phones: as of today, My Pocket Office is available for free from the Nokia store for all owners of “Full Touch” Nokia Asha phones.

My Pocket Office consists of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, three of Microsoft’s most popular productivity apps, and being able to view documents created with those programs on Asha smartphones means Asha owners no longer need to download third-party apps to work with them.

If you’re interested, you can grab My Pocket Office directly from the Nokia Store, or by following this link. If you own an Asha and you’re unsure whether your phone qualifies for the free download, the store page offers a handy compatibility checker that will tell you.
