In mid September  Dave Hakkens made a video (see above)  detailing his Phonebloks concept, a smartphone with modular pieces allowing you to only upgrade or repair the part of the phone that was needed without throwing away everything else. It seems that his plea did not go unheard by the mobile phone industry, with Motorola’s Advanced Technology and Projects group announcing that they had been working with Hakkens on project Ara, a modular phone concept consisting of “an endoskeleton and modules”.

The project is not closed though, Motorola is allowing anyone with an Android device or iPhone to sign up to become Ara Scouts who will be sent on ‘special missions’ to help direct the design team.

David is a technology enthusiast with an insatiable thirst for information. He tends to get excited over new hardware and will often be the one in the room going "Its got 17 cores, 64GB of RAM and a 5" 4K flexible OLED display, oh it makes phone calls too?" Currently uses: Too many phones. Wants: World peace... and more phones.
