Nissan’s electric LEAF will confuse petrol attendants

Nissan’s LEAF is South Africa’s first mass-produced electric car. Plug it in, charge it up, and you’ll have 160km worth go-juice in the battery pack.

That means there’s no need to stop at a fuel station – as if the car’s eerily-quiet operation doesn’t give the game away. Just to make sure you remember not to stop at filling stations when running on empty, Nissan has a clever – and amusing – video to drive the point home. It stars one proud LEAF driver pulling in at a few petrol stations, leaving the attendants to figure out how to fill it up.

Keep an eye out for our test drive and review of the LEAF, in the coming weeks; we’ll answer all the questions you might have.
