DStv Explora gets its first feature update this week

When the DStv Explora launched in August Multichoice promised that the Linux based decoder would get software updates that unlocked more features over its life. Before the end of this week the first major feature update for the Explora will roll out and bring with it a slew of new features. The most noticeable part of the update for users will be something that Multichoice is calling “episode stacking”  which will keep individual episodes of the same TV series in DStv’s Catchup service grouped together in one folder.

Episode stacking is not the only feature being rolled out to the Explora though with are some others included in the update:

  • DStv Catchup: A new “Kids” category and sub-genres for Movies, Sport and Series categories. These two features add greatly to the discovery of content.
  • Five colour-coded channel groups. This allows every member of the family to set up a group of favourite channels.
  • Playlist: The episode number is now displayed in addition to the season number.
  • TV guide: Viewers can use number keys to directly jump to a channel in the TV Guide – less scrolling.
  •  An updated SuperSport Active app
  •  The Easy Info app

We’ve had some good hands on time with the Explora over the last few months which you can read about in our review or just check out the video review below.
