Tutu and the Dalai Lama on Google+ talking about Madiba this afternoon

Today marks one week since the passing of Nelson Mandela, and while the memorial service was held on Tuesday there is of course still one rather high profile individual who was unable to take part in the eulogising of Madiba. The Dalai Lama has had a bit of difficulty getting into South Africa of late, but that won’t stop him from participating in the mourning digitally through the power of the internet and Google+ hangouts. This afternoon the leader of the Tibetan Buddhists will join arguably the most high profile religious leader in South Africa, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu for a conversation about their experiences with Madiba.

The event will take place at Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory in Houghton from 14h30 – 15h30 where we assume the Arch will be (the Dalai Lama will probably not be there) and the event is open to both the public and media on a first come first serve basis. Or if you, like us, will be at work at that time, you can check it out on the One Billion Acts of Peace Google+ page when it goes live.

“One Billion Acts of Peace and The Nelson Mandela Foundation will host a virtual conversation between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu as they share what Madiba’s life personally meant to them.

The Hangout on Air will be broadcast at the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory in Houghton, Johannesburg on Friday, 13 December 2013. It is open to the public and media. You can also watch it live by following One Billion Acts of Peace on Google+ or on their YouTube page.

Let us live the legacy together. This is a place of memory.
