It’s official – with sales numbers in from GFK Chart-Track as are being reported by big-name gaming websites like IGN, Gamespot and MCVUK.com, it’s become clear that the PlayStation 4 is now the UK’s fastest-selling console, beating the PlayStation Portable’s eight-year-old record of 180,000 units sold in the first 48 hours.
That’s because it sold 250,000 units in the first 48 hours of availability in the UK, beating the Xbox One’s figure over the same period by around 100,000 units. That figure is also enough to beat the Wii U’s lifetime sales to date in the region, which has been available for over a year now.
