Games developer Big Robot of Sir, You Are Being Hunted fame has a little new year’s surprise. It’s a free-to-download and play experimental racer call Permutation Racer.

It looks a bit like the classic F-Zero game of Nintendo systems of yore, but every track is ‘mathematically generated’ (Aren’t all computer graphics mathematically generated? – Nitpick ed) so that it’s a unique mix of low-fi scenes, twists and turns.

Well worth the tiny 17.5MB download for a beautifully styled and minimalist game. Points won for being excellent, points lost for being Mac and Windows only. Download it here.

(Disclosure – Jim from Big Robot is an ex-colleague and old friend)
