Sony has posted a handful of new Destiny screenshots to its Tumblr feed, and boy are they looking good. The images showcase player armour and weapons, various enemies and some of the game’s environments, all of which we’ll be getting to know intimately once the game launches later this year.

Destiny will be available for the PlayStation 3, 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on the 9th of September, 2014, but if you own either a PS3 or PS4, you’ll have the chance to try it out before then as beta access is open exclusively to people who pre-order the game on those platforms.

Developer Bungie has favoured Sony with exclusive in-game content as well, giving PS gamers even more incentive to play the game on their preferred platform. The beta is slated to take place in our winter/the northern hemisphere’s summer, with final dates to be announced closer to the time.

Local gaming retailer BTGames is handling Destiny preorders and allocating beta codes. Check out their Destiny Preorder page for more details.

Deon got his first taste of PC gaming at the tender age of 11 when his father bought an 8088 XT, ostensibly to "help him with his homework". Instead, it introduced him to Leisure Suit Larry, King Graham, Sonny Bonds and many more, and Deon has been a PC gamer and hardware enthusiast ever since. He landed his first professional writing gig in 2006 at a prestigious local PC magazine, a very happy happenstance as he got to write for a living about things he loves - tech, PCs, gaming, and everything in between. He's been writing about it all ever since, and loves every minute of it.
