PS4 bundle goes on sale at FNB

As expected, FNB has announced a PlayStation 4 finance deal for its account holders. The package includes the console, two DualShock 4 controllers and two games – Knack and Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Just like FNB’s other smart device deals, the PS4 bundle is essentially interest-free. The total retail value of the above is just about R9 000, but monthly payments to FNB are just R359, which works out to R8 616 over the 24-month period. With the recent price hike of the PS4, the tumbling value of the rand, and limited stocks of the PS4, this may be the best way for some to get hold of Sony’s latest console. With only 100 units available through FNB, for now, potential PS4 owners will have to act fast to secure theirs online right away.

The PS4 joins the PS3 and Xbox 360 as gaming offerings on the FNB online store. If anything, these deals will draw a few more people into the fray, as dropping thousands on a new console can be a bit heavy on the budget.

Low monthly payments also mean more free cash for games. This is good news as more upcoming PS4 games have been announced and given pre-order dates, including inFamous Second Son, whose preorder page has just gone live on BTGames.co.za. Since games are now in the R700 – R800 price range, you’ll need all the free cash you can get, each month, to keep fuelling your hobby.

Unlike our other favourite PS4 bundle, which DionWired offered last year, this one doesn’t include the PS4 camera. It’s no great loss now, because there is no explicit need for any game to have the camera, but it’ll be a nice-to-have for the future when games come out that require it, or benefit tangibly from its presence. It’s still difficult to find the PS4 camera for sale on its own, but it’s expected to cost around R1 000.

All that FNB lacks now is a gaming PC on its finance deals. A few Alienware PCs, perhaps, and it’ll have the most important gaming machines all covered.
