Jane Goodall to give talks in South Africa this week

Renowned British primatologist, ethologist, anthropologist, and UN Messenger of Peace, Dr Jane Goodall, will be in South Africa this week to give two talks in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Dr Goodall, who is known for her conservation work and study of wild chimpanzees spanning over a period of 4 decades, will be hosted by the Jane Goodall Institute South Africa at the Univeristy of Cape Town and Wits University on February 6th and 7th. Below are details of the events.

February 6th, 2014:

Venue: Baxter Concert Hall, Baxter Theatre Centre, Main Road, Rondebosch
Time: 19:00 – Doors open at 18:00 (Guests to be seated by 18:45)

Guest speaker: Dr Jane Goodall, DBE

Topic: “The Life and Times of Dr Jane Goodall – in celebration of her 80th year”

Tickets can be collected from the Baxter Computicket Office on Tuesday, 4 Feb 2014 from 09:00 to 17:00 only. Thereafter no further tickets will be made availble.

The event will also be live streamed from the UCT website.

February 7th, 2014:

Venue: Wits Great Hall, Wits University

Time: 5:30pm for 6:00pm

Master of Ceremonies:

Dr Francis Thackeray

Guest speaker: Dr Jane Goodall, DBE

Topic: “The Life and Times of Dr Jane Goodall – in celebration of her 80th year”

Tickets for both events are free, attendees are however invited to make a donation of R150 to the Jane Goodall Institute South Africa.
