Analysts believe this move is an indication of Google’s focus on pushing advertising and upping YouTube’s money-making strategy.

“It’s one of the biggest traffic sources on the Internet, so it makes sense to want to try to monetize the best they can,” Needham & Co analyst Kerry Rice told Reuters.

Wojicicki has been with Google since its early days, in fact, back in 1998, her garage became Google’s very first office when co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin rented it out from her. She expressed her excitement about joining YouTube in this tweet:

Wojicicki has also played a very integral role at Google, she was one of the key players behind Google’s acquisition of YouTube in 2006 and overseen the company’s successful new ad types for shopping and mobile.

“Like Salar, Susan has a healthy disregard for the impossible and is excited about improving YouTube in ways that people will love,” said Google CEO, Larry Page.

Kamangar will stay with Google, but the company hasn’t indicated what role he now will be playing.
