The 5-minute Flash game that’s better than Rambo: The Videogame

When a 5-minute Flash game from 2012 leaves a better taste in the mouths of gamers than your 2014 0n-rails shooter, you know there’s a problem with your title.

That’s exactly the case with the new Rambo: The Videogame that cropped up on Steam recently. It’s an on-rails shooter that tries really hard to recreate the action and set-pieces of three Rambo movies (First Blood parts I & II, Rambo III), but whether it succeeds or not is debatable, as it currently has a 35/100 rating on Metacritic and 30 out of the 51 player reviews on Steam say “Not recommended”.

Rambo: Last Blood (the Flash game), on the other hand, is 5 minutes long and features Rambo hugging some of the many enemies he’s killed in his career in an effort to get into Valhalla. It’s got a handful of amusing pop-culture references, the beginning is hilarious and it’s arguably more worthy of your time – and funnier – than Rambo: The Videogame.

Head over to the developer’s website and play Last Blood right now for some lulz, and watch the gameplay video below to see if Rambo: The Videogame qualifies as one of those “So bad it’s good” games that you might want to grab when it inevitably goes on sale.

I must admit, I’m intrigued. Sometimes it’s fun to just switch off my brain while I game, which R:TV apparently requires.
