Google portal celebrates women in cultural history

International Women’s Day has come and gone but the celebration of women all over the world continues.

The Google Cultural Institute, Google’s online cultural heritage museum, has set up a ‘Women in Culture’ portal dedicated to honouring women who were in the forefront of different cultural events and eras in world history.

South Africa’s women’s march to the Union Buildings in 1956, which is commemorated on our own Women’s Day on 9 August, is also featured as one of the many collections on the portal.

Women in Culture has 18 collections in total  dating as far back as the early 1800s all the way to 2014. Visit the Google Cultural Institute and take a tour through history of Women in Culture.
