Ghosts’ latest DLC features the Predator, and it’s not the drone

It’s almost six months since the latest Call of Duty launched, and you know what that means – it’s time for the second DLC pack to land! Activision really seems to be pulling out all of the stops to make this worth the R150 or so it’ll cost gamers by putting in a little something for everyone, along with a surprise.

Called Devastation, the new DLC has four new multiplayer maps, a new weapon called the Ripper and of course a brand-new episode of the Extinction game mode, which pits players against more aliens, this time on a seemingly-abandoned ship that’s floated out to sea.

Activision has released a full-on trailer showing off each of these elements, and the Ripper looks to be a pretty cool addition to the CoD arsenal thanks to its apparent ability to switch between long-range and close-quarters modes on the fly. It should come in handy in the new maps, which look to be quite claustrophobic and conducive to close-quarter battles.

Most intriguingly, the trailer features a Predator (and not of the drone variety) seen right at the end. It’s not clear how, exactly, the Predator will feature – perhaps he’s an AI opponent, a kill-streak reward or a new player skin, we just don’t know – but he’s in there for sure.

Check out the trailer below for more details. Devastation drops April 3 for Xbox owners, and possibly on May 3 for everyone else.

A warning before clicking Play, however: the trailer features Eminem rapping in full sweary mode, so maybe grab a pair of headphones before watching if you’re at work, or consider watching it at home instead.

Update: Turns out, the Predator becomes playable by completing a field order on the map Ruins. Players will have his one-shot melee attack, his thermal vision, his shoulder-mounted aut0-tracking cannon and his ability to go entirely invisible to play with, plus a Kinectic Energy Strike that triggers when he dies. Neat!
