Current owners of The Last of Us may get a Remastered discount

Naughty Dog community manager Eric Monacelli confirmed via the EU Sony Blog that the studio is in fact looking into offering owners of The Last of Us a discount on the remastered PS4 version.

His comment was in direct reply to forum poster C98976 who said “Any chance that people who own TLoU on PS3 and also the season pass will get a discount on TLoU Remastered?”

Whether the discount will specifically only apply to people who also own the game’s Season Pass is not clear, of course, but it makes sense that it wouldn’t since that would alienate more than a few people who only have the base game.

Monacelli’s comment was posted on the PlayStation Blog’s entry about the last DLC pack for The Last of Us. Called the Grounded Bundle, it contains some new multiplayer maps, a bunch of new weapons, and for fans of the single-player game looking for more of a challenge a new Grounded Mode that makes the game really, really hard.

So hard, in fact, that Sony said “Completed Grounded Mode” might be one of the most difficult trophies you’ll earn”. Apparently that’s down to tweaked enemy AI that’s “relentless, smart and brutal” that will make it nearly impossible to survive.

No release date for this new DLC pack was mentioned, however.

All in all, this is pretty good news for fans of Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic thriller. If you’d like to see the new content in action, Naughty Dog will be streaming it live on their Twitch channel on Friday the 18th of April at 8PM BMT, which is 9PM South African time.
