As we head into winter most of us are fortunate enough to have something to keep us warm through the chilly nights. The same cannot be said for many underprivileged South Africans. That’s why ultra-cool cab hailing service Uber, is teaming up with this year’s Twitter Blanket Drive (@TBDAfrica) to collect blankets for the poor.

Uber and TBDAfrica are calling on individuals as well as companies in cities where the service is available to contribute as many blankets as possible. Once you’re done, simply log onto the Uber Android or iOS app from today to May 29th, 10am and 3pm. Slide to the blanket option at the bottom of the app, select your pickup location and tap on “Request Pickup”. The Uber Team will arrive at your location to pick up your blanket donations – for free! – and deliver them to your city’s nearest drop-off location.

The official handover of all blanket donations to the selected non-profit organisations will take place on Thursday, May 29th. You can post your photos and tweets using the hashtag #UberrrLove and #TBD2014
