Galaxy S5 will also monitor your stress levels

One of the major features of the Galaxy S5 smartphone that Samsung has punted since it launched the device in Barcelona earlier this year was its built in heart-rate sensor. We found it to be rather accurate when we had the Galaxy S5 in for review and enjoyed the fact that Samsung had moved into the health monitoring space without the need for an additional wearable device that you had to buy.

Not content with checking up on just your heart-rate, Samsung is rolling out an update to its S Health app that allows you to monitor your stress levels using the heart-rate sensor. The stress level monitoring was more than likely planned for the launch of the Galaxy S5 but had to be cut from S Health because it wasn’t ready for the big time. Nevertheless the 11 million or so people who have bought a Galaxy S5 in the first month since it launched will welcome more features being added to their phones just the same.

As with the heart-rate monitoring in the S Health app your levels are tracked on a graph that can give you hourly, daily and weekly visualisations of how your stress levels are behaving.

We’ve checked the local Samsung App store and found that the update hasn’t been pushed out to us yet but it should only be a matter of time before you can prove to your friends who really has the most stressful job.
