LEGO! Batman! A third title!

Who’d have thunk that LEGO is as timelessly refreshing in videogame format as it is in tiny ABS blocks? We’ve yet to play a LEGO game we didn’t like. and the chances are that the third LEGO: Batman one is unlikely to buck the trend.

What’s that you say? A third Batman game? Hell, yeah.

Warner Bros. Interactive revealed yesterday that LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham will be launched a bit later this year, and will be available on Xbox One, Xbox360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 and PC, as well as a number of handheld consoles.

The game follows up from LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, and the entire franchise has already managed to sell 100 million units worldwide.

“Building on the incredibly successful LEGO Batman franchise, we are working to make LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham the ultimate super hero videogame this year for all ages. The TT Games team is bringing LEGO Batman and an astounding amount of characters from the DC Comics universe to the next frontier with a new epic story, more gadgets and unexpected challenges,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games in a press statement.

According to those in the know, the third game sees Batman teaming up with other super heroes from the expansive DC Comics Universe, who take action when the evil Brainiac wants to destroy Earth.

In what has become a bit of a trademark for the LEGO universe, 150 unique characters from the DC Comics universe will be made available for the campaign and will naturally include their authentic super abilities.

Just to sweeten the deal some more, as Batman you will be able to visit and explore iconic locations like the Hall of Justice, the Batcave and the Justice League Watchtower.
