Forbes’ Powerful Women in Tech list is almost identical to last year’s

Forbes recently released its annual 100 World’s Most Powerful Women list featuring a number of females in the tech industry, which Forbes then uses to draw up a separate Most Powerful Women in Tech list.

A look at the 2013 and 2014 lists shows almost no difference in the women featured, with only a handful of new additions from last year not making it to the 2014 list.

Sheryl Sandberg topped last year’s list and again made it to number one in 2014, with Virginia Rometty keeping her number two spot from last year. Ursula Burns, Marissa Mayer, Meg Whitman, Susan Wojcicki, Safra Catz, Padmasreee Warrior, Cher Wang, Amy Hood, Sun Yafang, Chua Sock Koong and Jennifer Li all appear in the 2013 and 2014 lists, with some of them moving to different spots this year.

This year’s new additions are Angela Ahrendts, Lucy Peng, Renee James, Gwynne Shotwell and Weili Dai, who all assumed new positions in their respective companies in 2013. Hopefully we’ll see a  woman from Africa’s tech industry emerging in years to come.
