[WATCH] A heavy metal tribute to 40 years of games

I love heavy metal. I love games. So when I saw this incredible 17-minute heavy metal tribute to game soundtracks I just had to share.

The 17-minute-long medley is performed by Jules Conroy, a musician from Western Massachusetts in the US, and he covers a total of 38 games from 1972’s Pong all the way up to 2014’s Dark Souls II. My favourite was the Mortal Kombat theme cover that kicks off at 4:45 – that tune lends itself so well to heavy metal remixes and gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

At the 14:12 mark he covers another of my favourite game themes, Skyrim. While his version isn’t quite as good as that of another cover artist, Eric ‘Erock’ Calderone, it’s still mighty fine – I just love that main riff.

If you like what you hear, consider following Jules on Twitter or subscribing to his YouTube channel here.
