The Winner

It’s difficult to pick a single winner from the crowd because all of these smartphones are here by virtue of the fact that they offer fantastic value for their prices. Instead we have two winners with the Vodafone Smart 4 Mini taking the budget crown for the staggering specs and user experience from a phone that costs just R799. Overall though we still find ourselves completely in love with the Nokia Lumia 520 as a budget smartphone. It has everything we want in a smartphone at a price that is affordable enough to meet the needs of a vast section of the South African population. We cannot believe just how much technology can fit inside a set of smartphones this well-priced in fact if you bought all of the smartphones in our test you would spend just R1 600 more than a new Samsung Galaxy S5 would cost you.
