NFP leader is SA’s new Science and Technology deputy minister

The Presidency has announced National Freedom Party (NFP) leader Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi, as South Africa’s new deputy minister of Science and Technology.

kaMagwaza-Msibi takes over from former deputy minister Michael Masutha, who now serves as the minister of Justice and Correctional Services.

The Judge President of the Gauteng High Court, Justice Dunstan Mlambo will administer the oath of office at a swearing-in ceremony tomorrow, 6th June at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

The former mayor of Zululand District Municipality stepped down after 15 years as mayor, to serve in parliament and represent the NFP.

kaMagwaza-Msibi broke away from the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in January 2011 to form the NFP, which has arisen as a strong contender to the IFP in KwaZulu-Natal. The NFP placed fifth in the national election results in May, securing just under 1% less votes than the IFP.
