BlackBerry users are getting access to over 200 000 Android apps later this year

Good news for all BlackBerry 10 users. BlackBerry and Amazon have just announced a partnership that will give users access to the more than 200 000 Android apps on the Amazon Appstore later this year when BlackBerry 10.3 launches.

This means you will have the chance to download popular apps such as Groupon, Netflix, Pinterest, Candy Crush Saga and more.

“Making the Amazon Appstore available on BlackBerry 10 devices will help BlackBerry continue to meet two essential needs: greater app availability for our smartphone users and enhanced productivity solutions for enterprises,” said BlackBerry CEO John Chen. “We’ve listened to our customers and have taken this important step to deliver on their needs, while executing on our strategy.”

The Amazon Appstore will come preloaded on BlackBerry 10.3.

BlackBerry also announced it will be shutting down its music and video app sections on the 21st July, but will still continue to offer third-party apps on the Amazon Appstore and that previously downloaded music and video content will be available after that date through MyWorld.

“We’re excited to be working with Amazon to deliver the apps and content that you’ve been looking for. It’s an exciting new day for BlackBerry 10 device owners,” BlackBerry says.
