Calling all inventors, the Innovation Summit is back this September

The annual South African Innovation Summit is back in September. This time, it’s heading to Cape Town where inventors, creative thinkers and designers will all gather to share, engage and showcase some of the best innovations emerging out of South Africa.

This year, the theme for the Innovation Summit is “Local Innovation, Global Conversation”. Guest speakers include Helen Bhurs, Dr Boitumelo Semete-Makokotlela, Arthur Lenk and Kyle Hermans among others. TV and radio presenter Lebo Mabena will be the event’s MC.

Last year’s event at the IDC headquarters in Johannesburg was a resounding success and we came across some interesting projects (such as these five awesome inventions) at the Inventor’s Garage competition.

The competition is back and you still have time to enter your invention, discovery, design, creation, model or prototype as an individual, a company, team or group. Children under 19 can also enter as individuals, a school team or group of friends. Over R25 000 in cash prizes is up for grabs, with more prizes to be announced.

Entries can be submitted on the Innovation Summit website. Early bird registration closes on 30th June, while standard registration closes on the 31st August.
