SA students win international supercomputing competition again

A team of South African students have won the Student Cluster Supercomputing Competition at the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC)  in Leipzig, Germany for the second year in a row.

Team Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC) made up of Kevin Beyers, Saeed Natha, Warren Jacobus, Hardus Bodenstein, Ellen Nxala, Pieter Malan, Eugene de Beste and Nicole Thomas, competed with ten other teams from around the world to demonstrate the incredible capabilities of state-of- the-art high-performance cluster hardware and software.

The teams took part in a real-time challenge build a small cluster of their own design on the ISC exhibit floor, and demonstrate the greatest performance across a series of benchmarks and applications. Team South Africa won after receiving the aggregate scores.

Well done to Team CHPC!
