HIV/AIDS is the most deadly diseases in 28 countries across Africa, according to a new study by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Despite the continued distribution of antiretroviral drugs, HIV/AIDS is still the most common killer in the Southern African region, barring Madagascar. Tuberculosis (in dark blue) is the second most deadly disease, totalling 11 countries spread out across the continent. Heart disease mostly affects the four countries on the Northern tip of Africa (Egypt, Morocco, Algeria and Libya), while respiratory infection is the most common in both Benin and Tunisia.
