Confession time: I didn’t watch the World Cup final last night, and I certainly didn’t Tweet about it. I have, however, watched this mesmerising heatmap produced by the data department at Twitter which shows an accelerated view of where Tweets came from during the 120 minutes or so it took for Germany to limp home to victory (as I understand was the case).

What strikes me as interesting is that South Africa is well represented in its enthusiasm for the beautiful game, but barely a single Canadian appears to have tuned in. Maybe if they played soccer on ice?
