Famous freerunner becomes Ubisoft’s first chief parkour officer

With many Assassin’s Creed games under their belt, it’s a bit of a surprise that Ubisoft has, only now, created a position to specifically oversee the series’ iconic roof-running mechanic. But that’s exactly what they’ve done.

According to MCVUK.com, Ubisoft announced that they have appointed famous free-runner Michael “Frosti” Zernow to the position, a man known for his Tempest Freerunning parkour group, in a bid to make the parkour mechanic in the Assassin’s Creed games more realistic.

Ubisoft said in its statement that Zernow would be serving “in a strategic advisory role, ensuring an ongoing commitment to the authenticity and accuracy of parkour”, starting with Assassin’s Creed Unity which comes out on October 28th for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

He’s in a good position to succeed, too – Zernow is quite the talented free-runner, plus he’s apparently also worked with Ubisoft before on other AC titles as a motion-capture artist. See him in action in this slightly-cheesy showcase of his abilities:

And here’s another AC5 video to stoke the fires of your excitement for the game:
