SA’s iPhoneography competition to close soon

There are few things in life that are as fulfilling as taking a beautifully-crafted photo. Photographs have the power to inspired, motivate, or bring about a flurry of emotions, so if you think that you are sitting with such an image on your iPhone, then you should really consider entering it into the annual iPhoneography competition.

But you have to hurry, as the closing date is just around the corner – in fact, its next week Friday, the 1st of August.

For those that are not sure, Apple describes iPhoneography as “A purely digital photographic process using Apple’s iPhone camera as the primary tool, either as a hobby or simply out of fancy, in capturing and creating photographic images.”

If you need a little bit of inspiration while you go hunting for the perfect shot, go have a look at these images here that made it into the top ten of the annual iPhone Photography Awards (IPPAWARDS). South African Danny van Vuuren brought home first prize for having the best photo in the Children category.

The judges for this year’s competition include iStore marketing manager Nicci Wood, Top Billing presenter Jonathan Boynton-Lee, and freelance cinematographer Ofentse Mwase.

All you have to do to enter is to take a couple of photos with an iPhone, check out the rules page on the website, submit your five best images, and then wait until you are contacted – if one of your images can cut the mustard, of course.

There will be one overall winner for each city, who will walk away with a 13″ MacBook Air, five category winners from each city who will win an iPad mini each, and a Community Choice Award, as voted for on social media from each city, who will win an iPad mini each.
