Joburg jousting, jesting and jongleuring Medieval Fayre planned for Sept

If you’ve been looking for something suitably unchivalrous to entertain yourself while waiting for the next installment of George RR Martin’s Song of Fire and Ice and its TV adaptation, how’s this to keep you going? This September you can watch real-life men and women bear down from the back of horses and attempt to knock seven belles of ye olde browne stuffe out of each other at the third annual Johannesburg Medieval Fayre.

The organisers – equestrian social network Neigh-Bours.co.za – send word that highlights of the event till include:

TO SEE: Live Action Role Playing , Medieval Fight Club Swordfighting,
Rutherford Forge Bladesmiths, Archers, Highland Dancers, Robin Hood and his
Merry Men, The King¹s Court and more.

TO DO: Medieval Games, interactive role playing, Game of Stones Challenge,
Medieval Cosplay for humans, and pets and more.

TO EXPERIENCE:  The Stocks, Œdragon’ and ‘unicorn’ rides, inflatables
adventure play area for kids (and adults), Ye Olde Village Market (potions,
dragons, rarities, armoury, gems, collectibles, and more).

Which all sounds like a fine way to spend a spring Saturday afternoon to us. It’s planned for the afternoon  of Saturday 6th September over at the Ball & All Driving Range Pub (near the Lion Park) and tickets are just R30 (available here).

And, of course, there’s a Facebook page with all the details. Plate up, and we’ll be seeing you there.
