There’s something just so amazingly cool about custom console designs that makes my inner geek really happy, but I get a little upset when companies show off their awesome designs and then pretty much go “Na na na na na na, you can’t have these!”
That’s exactly what Microsoft is doing at the San Diego Comic Convention that’s happening this weekend: they have a bunch of customised Xbox Ones on display that will be given away as prizes; I don’t know what people will have to do to win one of these amazing-looking boxes but I hope it hurts and I hate them already.
Why am I being so mean? Because these Xbox Ones look so good all dressed up in their game-related finery, and I’d love to own any one of them. Yes, even the ugly ones. Microsoft branded 21 Xbox Ones with branding graphics from their top games, and they did a fantastic job on most.
Kotaku has all 21 designs on show; the three I’ve included below are to whet your appetite for what’s to come and they are, in my opinion, the best-looking of the bunch. Click the link to see the full line-up, and join me in lamenting the prospect of never owning one of these beautiful ‘bones.
On a slightly more locally-relevant note, we’re less than 60 days away from the Xbox One going on sale in South Africa. In case you don’t already know, that glorious day is the 23rd of September. Bring it!
