Want to come and work for htxt.africa?

Hey there, interested reader. We know how much you enjoy htxt.africa already – you’re just one of many who’ve helped us to become one of South Africa’s biggest tech sites in a single year. If you like what it is that we do, why not come and help us do it?

We’re looking to recruit two people to work in our Johannesburg offices, and as readers you get first chance to apply.

We’re looking for a junior to mid-level designer and an advertising sales executive.

For the ad sales position, we need someone experienced who is comfortable with selling both print and online ads and understands all the relevant metrics and mechanics of these. Ideally, you’ll have a background in the tech industry and a contact list that’s both comprehensive and up-to-date. You’ll be selling primarily onto htxt.africa and htxt.africa’s Tech Made Easy, have your own car and be very highly motivated.

For the design role, we’re looking for someone with proven skills in Adobe Indesign, PhotoShop and other page layout packages, who wants to work on our magazine portfolio. You see, as well as htxt.africa, our parent company – Hypertext Media – also produces the monthly magazine htxt.africa’s Tech Made Easy, htxt.africa’s Independent Guides to iOS, Android and Windows and contract publications such as the Tarsus Channel magazine.

And we need someone bright and creative to help us do it.

You’ll work alongside our existing art and design team turning our online output into the printed word. And for the ambitious, there’s loads of room to develop as well – not only will you be working with one of the most experienced teams of journalists and designers in the industry, we’re also expanding fast into all areas of visual story telling online and off.

If you’ve got video skills, a passion for audio or a penchant for photography, we’ll help you develop them over time. And if data visualisations are your thing, come and talk to us.

We’re looking to hire people soon, so get in touch as soon as possible using the form below. Salary is commensurate with experience, and includes commission based earnings for the sales role.

Have we sold you on it yet? If you want to apply, send an email to us by clicking here and don’t forget to attach an up-to-date CV and – in the case of the designer – work samples. Please make it clear in the subject line which position you’re interested in.

And if these positions aren’t for you, feel free to share this link via Twitter, Facebook or other social poison of your choice.
