Far Cry 4, The Crew and multiple Assassin’s Creeds to be shown at Gamescom

Gamescom is just around the corner, and French mega-publisher Ubisoft has announced a pretty compelling lineup for the show. Not only will they be showing off Far Cry 4, The Crew and both Assassin’s Creed games, attendees will get to play them all at various “pods” that will be set up around Ubisoft’s stand.

According to their recent press release, Far Cry 4 will be on 90 pods, The Crew on 24 and Assassin’s Creed Rogue on 40. The Crew, an open-world driving game will be playable on special movable motorised seats surrounded by three monitors for an extra touch of realism and massive envy-inspiring potential. I know I’m green with it.

These won’t be the only Ubisoft games on show, but they are the only ones attendees can actually play themselves. Two of the games I’m most excited for, The Division (the MMO based on Tom Clancy’s vision of an apocalyptic future New York) and Assassin’s Creed Unity will both be there, but they will be showcased in non-interactive demos shown 150-seater and 85-seater theatres respectively.

I’m also quite keen on another smaller title, the new Settlers game subtitled Kingdom of Anteria, but it’s not clear how, exactly, it will be showcased. On the main stage, Ubisoft will be punting its new Just Dance and Shape Up games for the three people who actually care about them, and there will be plenty of cosplayers dressed as characters from its games handing out free stuff to passers-by. Gamers will also get the chance to have their pictures taken sitting on Pagan Min’s throne, the one from Far Cry 4’s cover. So cool.

Gamescom is happening in Cologne, Germany from the 13th to the 17th of August, and I really, really wish I was going. Take a look at Ubisoft’s promotional video and see what we’ll be missing out on together.
