UK and African creatives to meet, share and jam at Creative Futures festival

Sixteen young innovators from Africa and the UK will meet for three days of creative exchanges, collaborations, talks, performances and live music parties next month at the Connect ZA Creative Futures festival in Johannesburg.

Creative Futures is an initiative by The British Council Connect ZA arts programme and a key part of the Fak’ugesi Digital Africa Festival. The sixteen innovators were selected from the design, music, digital, performance and photography fields to take part in the festival which will be held in various venues around Braamfontein from 10th to 12th September.

The festival will feature a number of invitation-only creative industry events, free events open to the public and will end-off with a live music party.

“We are keen to see greater connections and networks arise from UK creatives and their contemporaries in Africa, and Connect ZA Creative Futures is part of that ambition,” says Tom Porter, British Council Connect ZA head of arts.“We’re excited to share the new creative energy of Johannesburg with this group of innovators.”

Before the Creative Futures festival kicks-off, a series of Twitter interviews and Instagram takeovers with local creatives will be hosted on the @Connect_ZA and @LiveMagSA accounts respectively.

Keep an eye out on the Creative Futures website and Connect ZA Tumblr page as more details on the Connect ZA Creative Futures festival will be posted soon.
