5, 4, 3 to Xbox One from FNB… sort of

First National Bank (FNB) has placed a nifty countdown timer on its Smart Device webpage that’s counting down to the South African Xbox One launch.

That’s all we know at the moment, but it strongly suggests that FNB customers will soon be able to pre-order the console via the bank’s Smart Devices programme.

In case you’ve not heard yet, the Smart Devices offering is FNB’s way of helping its customers acquire cool tech by letting them buy it with 24 interest-free monthly instalments. It’s like getting a loan for the exact amount you need to buy something cool, and only having to pay back that amount over 24 months.

FNB’s official stance on the matter, though, is that the site is doing nothing more than counting down to the local launch, and that visitors should not read anything more into it.

The recommended retail price is R6 299 for the Xbox One on its own and R7 999 for the console and Kinect 2.0 sensor. As of right now there are just over 31 days and eight hours to go until the console is out. In case you don’t have the exact date circled on your calendar, that’s the 23rd of September.
