The world’s most popular LEGO exhibition is coming to Cape Town in December

What could be more thrilling for a LEGO lover than to be in a room full of some of the best artistic LEGO creations in the world? If this sounds like something that would excite you, then we have good news: The Art of the Brick is coming to our shores for the first time.

Dubbed “the world’s most popular LEGO exhibition”, The Art of the Brick has toured the globe, exhibiting its incredible LEGO creations by New Yorker, Nathan Sawaya. The artworks on display consist of  large-scale sculptures ranging from human figures to dinosaur skeletons and more.

Sawaya will be bringing along his famous sculptures as well as some new sculptures such as Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa”, the “Venus de Milo” and Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring” to The Art of the Brick, South Africa.

“These works are very personal to me, since they reflect my growth as an artist as I strove to discover my creative identity,” says Sawaya. “The museum exhibition is accessible because it engages the child in all of us while simultaneously illuminating sophisticated and complex concepts. Everyone can relate to the medium since it is a toy that many children have at home. But my goal with this exhibition when it first debuted in 2007 was to elevate this simple plaything to a place it has never been before.”
