See Grim Fandango running on the PS4

The news that Grim Fangango would be remastered and re-released for PS3 and PS4 had me, and many other fans of the game really excited. It’s the idea of the brilliant story re-wrapped lovingly in high-definition graphics and re-worked 3D and adapted for the PS4’s Dual Shock controller that gets us all teary-eyed and nostalgic.

But Double Fine Studios hasn’t said much about it since the announcement back at E3, so when I saw Destructoid had posted a seven-minute video shot by the documentary team behind Double Fine’s Broken Age making-of movie, 2 Player Productions, I jumped on the chance to share it with you guys.

Apparently the game will run in 1080p but retain its original 4:3 aspect ratio, so we’ll be playing with two black bars down the sides of the screen. But the 3D models, the movies and the backgrounds will be updated to look a lot better than they did back in 1998. It will also be coming to other platforms, not just the PS3 and PS4, and that will include – at the very least – PC and the PS Vita. Good news, indeed!

Without further ado, here it is: Seven and a bit minutes of behind-the-scenes footage of the work that’s going into bringing Grim Fandango into the 21st century. Skip to 3:29 to see the game running on the PS4.
