SA health tech startup will compete in Start Tel Aviv 2014

Local health tech entrepreneur, Simon Spurr, has been announced as the local winner of the Start Tel Aviv competition and will go on to compete with 13 other winners in the hopes of walking away with the international grand prize.

Start Tel Aviv is a global competition taking place between 13th and 19th September during the DLD Festiva. It brings together startups from different countries to compete for the chance to experience Tel Aviv’s startup ecosystem and take part in workshops, lectures and meetings with leading Israeli investors and professionals.

“We are really proud that My 30 Day was the winner of the inaugural Start Tel Aviv SA contest and beat out over 30 outstanding South African companies to win the trip to Israel. Later this month, they will join hot start-up companies from 17 other companies from all over the world to meet Tel Aviv’s best investment angels and start-up successes to learn how Israel became “innovation nation”,” says Israeli’s Ambassador to South Africa, Mauritius, Lesotho and Swaziland, Arthur Lenk.

“Israel and SA already have some great hi-tech connections and shared interests and I hope that this contest will show more people how cooperation in this area makes our two countries more successful,” adds Lenk.

Spurr runs 30 Day Health is a patented mobile technology created to improve hospitals’ patient management, help schedule early intervention, improve medical treatment outcomes and ultimately reduce high number of hospital re-admissions. 30 Day Health worked with leading medical doctors to develop the system and began beta testing in July this year.
