Every new iteration of the life-simulating Sims franchise brings its share of changes, and The Sims 4 is no different. On top of new graphics, household goods, careers and ways to build homes, it has a bunch of new things for your Sims to do, including new ways to socialise, new emotions be affected by, the ability to do more than one thing at once and much more.
Naturally, with so much going on it’s not only possible, but likely that along the way the game will get things totally wrong and produce unexpected, unrealistic or just plain funny results. And going on some of the laugh-out-loud things being posted on the official Sims forums, that’s exactly what’s happening.
Like these incidents that I’m still chuckling about. If the text in the images below appear a bit small on your screen, click on them and they’ll open a little bigger in a new window.

At its core, The Sims 4 is all about relationships, yet it often gets them wrong. Real life is not black and white, and apparently inter-personal relationships – and the consequences of certain actions – are too complex to be accurately represented in a mere game, with rather funny results:
“Woohooing”, in case you’re wondering, is exactly what you think it is.
Polygamy is likewise a tad confusing to the game’s logic engine:
Family relationships are also a bit wonky, especially when adopted kids are concerned.
And you thought your family was complicated… but at least your in-laws are recognised as such and if anyone’s adopted they’re still seen as family. Right?
In the same thread was this pearler. Apparently incest, whether intentional or not, is a thing in The Sims 4. I’m going with “not”.
You can also literally die of embarrassment:
Who’d have thought Sims would do this when given the chance to multi-task?
And sometimes, the simplest stories are the funniest, like this one from Littleoshawott who unfortunately didn’t elaborate. In the game, the Grim Reaper appears for a few minutes to take Sims away when they die, so when this happens, it’s a bit of a head-scratcher:
By many accounts on the forums The Sims 4 is a very funny – if a little buggy – game. I’m torn between wanting EA to patch some of these issues out so things work properly, and wanting to see even more being reported by the very active Sims community.
Are you playing The Sims 4 right now, and do you have funny stories to share? If so, we’d love to hear them.
