Data visualisation designers wanted to help with co-ordinated ebola campaign

Hey data designers: want to use your amazing powers of visualisation for good? Jason from Code4SA sends word that sister organisation Code4Nigeria is looking for experts at presenting information in a palatable manner that’s good for TV, print, mobile and web to lend their skills to an ebola awareness campaign in the country.

According to the sign-up page, Code4Nigeria and the International Center for Journalists are assembling at team to help produce materials and tools including mobile phone apps that will be used on the TVC broadcast network and disseminated by other means through the Vanguard newspaper and Facebook. The final product may look a little like the one already produced in Liberia (below).

You can apply to help using the form on this webpage, it’s a short-term contract without travel requirements – there’s no reason any freelance coder with a background in UI analytics shouldn’t apply, really.

It’s been said often enough but we might as well say it again: the biggest issue facing communities which are currently trying to contain the spread of the ebola virus in West Africa is lack of information presented clearly and concisely in local languages by trusted organisations. And since pictures speak-you-know-how-many-words this is a great opportunity. That weblink again…
