Don’t forget: tomorrow is Software Freedom Day

Oh, how quickly these events roll around. Tomorrow – 20th September – is Software Freedom Day, the annual celebration of all things freely licensed and open source. South African supporters are going to struggle to top last year’s event – when GNU founder Richard M Stallman spoke at Wits – there’s still plenty to get excited about.

Personally, we’ll be dropping by the African School for Excellence where pupils will be meeting members of Centurion maker collective House4Hack and learning about 3D printers and stuff. But for the rest of you, there’s a big event planned at the Pretoria Gautrain Station with a great line-up of speakers.

Personally, I’d be earmarking Mark Clarke from Jumping Bean‘s presentation on the use of Bash in atomic research as a must-see, but there’s plenty for all tastes.

Full details are here.
