Doom, gloom and werewolves in the new Bloodborne trailer

From Software, the studio behind Dark Souls, is making a brand-new game exclusively for the PlayStation 4 called BloodBorne. It was revealed at this year’s E3 and seemed to promise a lot of what made Dark Souls so great – highly responsive combat and a steep difficulty curve – all wrapped up in delicious new graphics that take real advantage of the power of the PlayStation 4.

They’ve just put out a new trailer showing off some of what gamers can expect when it comes out in 2015. The trailer isn’t long, just two minutes or so, but it captures perfectly the blend of Dark Souls-esque combat and the gloomy, detailed world all the fighting takes place in.

But this isn’t simply Dark Souls in a new time; you’ll also see a bit gunplay, what look like werewolves and some impressive bosses alongside the studio’s signature gloom and doom.

There isn’t a lot of exposition on the game’s background as yet, but what is known is that Bloodborne takes place in a city called Yharnam, known for housing a medical remedy which the player is seeking. Of course when you get there you find it’s been cursed and its inhabitants turned into monsters, which you must fight while you search for answers.

Bloodborne is out in early February, 2015 for PlayStation 4.
