GoMetro wins Get in the Ring Africa

GoMetro, a local service that provides updates for Metrorail commuters via the web and an app, has won the African leg of the Get in the Ring startup competition.

Hosted by the BiD Network in Rwanda and dubbed “the Olympics for startups”, Get in the Ring contestants participated in workshops, mentoring and networking sessions and meetings during the day.

In the evening, five battles were held where contestants faced-off, two at a time, pitching their startups. The judges consisted of a panel of potential investors as well as an audience of entrepreneurs, and the contestants tackled five different topics regarding their startups, followed by a question and answer session with the judges.

Justin Coetzee, the creator of GoMetro, competed with nine other entrepreneurs from around the continent in front of six judges to win the African regional finals. He will now go on to compete with eight other regional winners at the Get in the Ring international finale on the 21st of November in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
